St. louis, mo.- Nationally recognized children’s photographer, Delana Mazdra, owner of Distinctive Images Photography announces plans today to raise support for a local non-profit organization, Friends of Kids with Cancer. “As a photographer, I have the privilege of capturing the unspoken emotion of a child!  I feel very blessed by this God given talent and would like to give back to our children and families of St. Louis that have been affected by childhood cancer”, says Delana Mazdra, owner of Distinctive Images Photography.   My clients are primarily children and being the blessed mother of two precious girls, I am surrounded daily with the lives of healthy children.  I think we all need to take a step into the lives of those kids and families that aren’t so fortunate. The definition of my life as a photographer is to be an interpreter of unfolding emotions.  When capturing an image of a child, I always ask myself, “Can a story be told or an emotion evoked by simply viewing the portrait”?  I believe that emotions are most often revealed through the eyes, revealing the child’s inner essence.  They are the window into the soul!”

I specialize in creating unique photographic works of art which include hand made Giclee’s and Watercolors, both vignette and impressionistic.  Many clients enjoy the Giclee Painter Portraits, which begin as a photograph and result in a painting of your child.  The Vignette Watercolor Portrait is also admired by many as a true work of art.

Friends of Kids with Cancer is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for cancer and catastrophic blood diseases in the St. Louis area.  Our mission is to provide these special kids and their families with the recreational, educational and emotional support needed during the long hours of chemotherapy, illness and isolation.

It’s about making today FUN.  It’s about taking the day full of pain, discomfort and tears, and turning it into laughter and fond memories.  No one can stop the pain of treatment; but we can keep the children from focusing on it, if only for a little while.  The mental health of these children is so important to the success of their overall treatment.  We try to do everything we can to keep the children mentally upbeat to face the daily challenges of fighting cancer.
